BT Miners' Lena Dong on Phone Support, Repair and Hosting

BT Miners' COO told Mining Disrupt Miami 2024 how phone support, free consultations, repair and hosting carried the company through the crypto winter.

Recorded · Mining Disrupt Miami 2024 · 5 min session

Lena Dong, COO of BT Miners, used a short session at Mining Disrupt Miami 2024, recorded June 24–26, 2024, to explain how a company that arrived late to Bitcoin mining built its business around one habit: answering the phone. In about five and a half minutes she walked through the company's history, its repair and hosting work, and a payments partnership it was preparing.

A late start in April 2021

Dong said BT Miners came into the industry later than most other companies. It started in April 2021 and opened its first office in China, then grew quickly. She described the company as one that does hosting, repair and hardware sales, and said it became one of the first vendors to offer real support to consumers.

We were the first ones to actually allow people to call us, and we'll actually pick up their phone calls.

That support came with free sessions. Dong said the company runs free tech support and consultation calls where people can ask general questions about crypto and crypto mining, as a way to promote both.

Expanding through the crypto winter

The timeline she gave runs through the downturn rather than around it. In 2022, despite the crypto winter, BT Miners started its hosting services. In January 2023 it opened a repair center in New York, and in March 2023 it became the warranty repair center for Goldshell's U.S. customers.

And so we basically started at the tail end of the last bull run, and we survived the crypto winter.

By the time of the Miami session, she said, the company was expanding again, and it supported most of the major miner manufacturers.

Repair starts with a diagnosis

On repair, Dong pointed out that miners break down from ordinary wear and that hash chips fail. Many clients, she said, do not know what is wrong with a machine. BT Miners offers a free consultation first: the problem may be a firmware update rather than a hardware fault, and the team tells the owner whether the unit needs to come in for repair at all.

Hosting in upstate New York

The hosting site is in upstate New York, which she described as a fairly big place in a cool climate. Its main selling point, in her words, is that the area has no curtailment.

And we don't have any curtailment in our area.

She also listed a wide range of accepted payment methods and quick crypto price updates, and pitched the company as a one-stop shop for repair, hosting and hardware.

So it's just one phone call to get everything done.

Payments as the next step

Dong closed on the company's plans. Many people trade crypto, she said, but few have a way to pay with it. BT Miners was partnering with a payments company so that more stores and e-commerce businesses could accept crypto: buyers pay with most altcoins, and the merchant receives USDT.

Bitcoin traded at $61,272 on June 24, 2024, when the session was recorded, and at $82,268 on October 19, 2026. Mining Disrupt returns March 22–24, 2027, in Irving, Texas.
