Oregon Hydro Mining Cost per kWh: Ace Miners' 5¢ Bet

Ace Miners CEO Zara Amrani makes the case for Oregon hydro hosting: about five cents per kilowatt-hour, 99% uptime and minimal curtailment.

Recorded · Mining Disrupt Miami 2024 · 6 min session

For Zara Amrani, the CEO and founder of Ace Miners, the number that mattered on stage in Miami was the cost of a kilowatt-hour. Her short session was a tour of a company built around hydro-powered hosting in Oregon, where she said power runs about five cents per kilowatt-hour with zero to minimal curtailment.

Amrani spoke at Mining Disrupt Miami, recorded June 24–26, 2024. When this session was recorded, Bitcoin traded at $61,272. On October 29, 2026 it was $79,778. She described Ace Miners as a US-based company, founded in 2017, that specializes in ASIC procurement, hosting, cloud mining and mining farm expansion.

Five Cents and Minimal Curtailment

The core of the pitch was Oregon power. Amrani said rates in the state are competitive, quoting five cents per kilowatt-hour, and that the hydro supply there is abundant, reliable and consistent. She said that stable energy cost is what lets the company take advantage of the five-cent rate.

So we are looking at $0.05 per kilowatt hour.

The second part of the pitch was what she described as zero to minimal curtailment. Because there is no downtime, she said, the client base is very satisfied, and she called customer satisfaction the most important thing.

Hydro Hosting at 99% Uptime

Amrani said Ace Miners specializes in fully hydro-powered hosting and has maintained an uptime of 99%. The company's biggest site is in Oregon, she said, and it also has facilities in Wisconsin and Oklahoma.

We specialize in hydro hosting, so fully hydro-powered with a 99% uptime, no curtailment in the state of Oregon.

She tied the uptime figure directly to the power source: an abundance of hydro energy in Oregon is, in her account, what keeps curtailment near zero. She also said hydro mining is very cost effective because the energy cost is stable.

The beauty of that is there is zero to minimal curtailment.

From ASIC Procurement to Cloud Mining

Beyond hosting, Amrani said Ace Miners handles ASIC procurement and accepts credit cards, which she said many companies in the space cannot do, giving buyers an additional layer of protection. The company also provides insurance during transit and offers the option to host the machines in one of its centers.

For individuals who want a hassle-free experience, she said the company offers cloud mining and fractionalized mining, in which buyers purchase hashrate and claim rewards through the company's dashboard. She said Ace Miners has launched several such projects in the last couple of years and that they completely sold out.

Gaining Local Acceptance for Hydro

Amrani said the company has built a strong community in Oregon, with partners who have built relationships with utility companies there. Those relationships, she said, have helped gain acceptance for hydro mining and for crypto in general, and the company has educated many people in the state and gained their approval.

She also described the environmental side: hydro mining, she said, reduces the company's carbon footprint and helps build a community that is more accepting of hydro mining.

We do reduce our carbon footprint.

The 20-Megawatt Opportunity

Amrani pitched an expansion opportunity directly to the room. She said Ace Miners has an opportunity for 20 megawatts in Oregon, with a possible expansion to 40 megawatts, and that a contract is already lined up with a host who would be interested in collaborating. She invited investors who want to build infrastructure to reach out.

We actually have an opportunity for the 20 megawatt in Oregon with the possible expansion to 40 megawatt.

The company also works with self-miners who want their own operations and with hosting providers looking to expand, she said, and has helped several clients with projects from about 5 megawatts to 100 megawatts. Anyone interested in acquiring or leasing land in Oregon, she added, can do so through Ace Miners.

And we have helped several clients anywhere from about 5 megawatt to 100 megawatt.

Reliable, Efficient, Sustainable

Amrani closed with the company's stated mission: to provide reliable and efficient solutions, promote sustainable practices and support customer growth. She asked investors, self-miners and hosting providers who want to learn more to get in touch.
