EMCD at Mining Disrupt Miami 2021: A Video Pitch and a Stand-In

EMCD opened with a recorded message from its CEO, then a stand-in took the stage to pitch a 1.5% pool fee and a 12th place world ranking.

Recorded · Mining Disrupt Miami 2021 · 3 min session

EMCD's slot at Mining Disrupt Miami, recorded on July 20–21, 2021, came in two parts. The host introduced Pavel Zaychenko from EMCD. Before anyone spoke live, the room watched a recorded message from a man who introduced himself as Michael, CEO of the EMCD.io company. When the video ended, the EMCD representative on stage explained that Michael could not attend and gave a short pitch for the company's mining pool. The whole segment ran about three minutes.

The recorded message

In the video, Michael said EMCD works in a market with high risk and high volatility, and that protecting client funds had been one of the company's biggest goals. For that reason, he said, the company had built two tools meant to make mining more profitable. He named the first one Coinhold and mentioned a 4% APY in connection with it for people mining BTC through the EMCD pool, adding that it lets the company reduce commissions. He described the second as a remedy against sudden drops in the BTC price, and he called it powerful.

We are developing an infrastructure investment product for qualified investors.

Pavel Zaychenko · 1:04

He listed what that product would cover: the financial model, the supply of equipment, placement in data centers in Russia, maintenance and service repairs, along with structured financial instruments. He said EMCD was also looking for people to join the team and develop the company in the USA. He invited attendees to stop by and talk with his team, and closed by saying this was why he created EMCD and welcoming people to join the company on its journey.

The live pitch

After the video, the speaker on stage greeted the room and went straight to the question of who was missing.

Yeah, Michael couldn't make it, unfortunately, today.

Pavel Zaychenko · 1:57

So they sent me instead and I basically came up here just to get the paella, I guess.

Pavel Zaychenko · 1:59

He pointed the audience to the free paella at the back of the room and admitted that jokes were not his thing either. Then he turned to the plan. EMCD, he said, wanted to make it easier for anyone looking to join its mining program, and he put the pool's fee first.

It's a 1.5% fee, so it's competitive.

Pavel Zaychenko · 2:24

He followed that with the company's standing among pools.

We are ranked 12th in the world, so we've been around in a leading role since 2018.

Pavel Zaychenko · 2:30

He finished on customer support. The team, he said, wanted to offer the best support it could, help miners get their servers running, help resolve whatever parts of the process it could, and stay in contact with customers at each step. He thanked the audience and left the stage.

Then and now
