The rules

Follow @MiningDisrupt, repost the giveaway post, and tag 2 friends in the comments. Two winners. Ends October 19, 2026, which we count as 11:59:59 PM Eastern.

343 people commented. 333 did everything the rules ask in time. 9 didn't tag two friends and 1 commented after the close. Each X account counts once, however many times it commented.

How the winners were picked

1. One public list

Every eligible entrant is in one text file: their X user ID and handle, one per line, sorted by ID. Its SHA-256 fingerprint is printed below. Change one character and the fingerprint changes.

2. A number nobody controls

We used the hash of Bitcoin block #972,254, the last block mined on the giveaway's closing date (Oct 19, 2026, 11:42:30 PM ET). Miners all over the world compete to produce every block, and nobody can choose or predict its hash, including us.

3. One ticket each

Each entrant's ticket is SHA-256 of the block hash, a colon, and their X user ID. The two lowest tickets win; the next five are alternates, in order.

4. Anyone can check

Same inputs, same answer, every time. Download the list, run the short script below, and you get the same seven names.
