Questions

What are Bitcoin fees right now?
As of Oct 12, 2026: about 1 sat/vB for the next block, 1 sat/vB within an hour.
What is sat/vB?
Satoshis per virtual byte. A typical one-input, two-output SegWit payment is about 140 vB, so 10 sat/vB is about 1,400 sats.
How much do fees pay miners?
Over the last 144 blocks fees were 0.6% of the total block reward; the rest was the 3.125 BTC subsidy.
Why do fees spike?
Blocks have a fixed size. When more transactions want in than fit, users outbid each other; the highest fee rates are mined first.
